I had a nice weekend.

John and I just came back from watching the Disney Movie “Cars” at a local theater – we both enjoyed it. The animated eyes on the cars didn’t seem quite right to me, but once I got over that the movie was enjoyable. My favorite part of the movie was seeing the animated RV’s at the race track. If you watch closely you see one that has lots of plastic Flamingos around it – very funny!

After the movie we went to Emack & Bolio’s Ice Cream for a little treat. John had a vanilla waffle cone and I had a Moose Tracks chocolate sunday. It was really good – the ice cream was very smooth and had a very good chocolate taste to it. The atmosphere of the place was typical “faux corporate trendy” with a Grateful Dead theme. Now I’m too hyped up on sugar to be able to sleep for awhile….

I did lots of geocaching over the weekend – I think I found 8 different caches in total. I’m now up to 72 caches found and with a little luck I will reach 80 by next weekend…

The Epson PX-8 retro computer I ordered does not work – was dead on arrival. This is the chance you take with a 20 year old computer being sent through the mail. I’m working with the vendor to return it and receive one that works. It would have been nice to have had it for the Retro Computer Fair next weekend at Purdue University that I want to go to. John works all day on Saturday so I should be able to drive to the fair and back before he gets done. I did a map-quest and it should be me 2.5 hours to get there…. I think it will be fun to go and see some really cool old (and I do mean OLD) computers that are actually up and running. At past events they had IBM systems from the 60′s and 70′s in place and going. And there will be the usual assortment of 8 bit home computers from the 80′s. I think John would be bored with the whole thing after 10 minutes, but I’m sure I will find it to be lots of fun. Kinda like a “ham feast” without all of the radio equipment….

It will be a change to actually have to work a full 5 day work week again. I hope the server we use for testing is back up and running so I don’t run out of things to do….
